چکیده

Putrescine (1,4-diaminobutane), the product of the decarboxylation of ornithine, is a precursor of the polyamines spermidine and spermine. After administration in uiuo of radiolabeled ornithine or putrescine, changes in specific activity of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine have been assessed in normal and regenerating liver and in brain. In both normal liver and in brain, after labeling with exogenous putrescine, the specific activity of spermidine declines with a half-life of about 4 days. Following partial hepatectomy, marked and characteristic changes occur in the endogenous levels of putrescine, spermidine, and spermine in the regenerating liver of the rat. Putrescine concentration is increased S-fold as early as 4 hours after the operation, whereas spermidine levels rise more slowly and attain a maximum which is double that of control values within the first 5 days. Spermine concentration declines initially but becomes elevated by 11 days after hepatectomy. In regenerating rat liver, the rate of decline of the labeling of spermidine after administration of 14C-putrescine or 14C-ornithine is the same as in normal liver. There is a very rapid fall (1: = 2 hours) of the labeling of putrescine in regenerating rat liver after the administration of 14C-ornithine.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Water Transportation through Aquaporin-4 in Rat Brain Cells

This paper investigates the mechanism of water transportation through aquaporin-4(AQP4) of ratbrain cells by means of molecular dynamics simulation with CHARMM software. The AQP4 wasembedded into a bilayer made of Dimystroilphosphatylcholine (DMPC). The results illustrate thatwater molecules move through AQP4's channel with change of orientation of oxygen of eachwater molecule.

Inhibition of polyamine accumulation and deoxyribonucleic acid synthesis in regenerating rat liver.

Repeated injections of 1,3-diaminopropane into rats after partial hepatectomy caused a repression-type inhibiton of liver ornithine decarboxylase (EC 4.1.1.17) and totally prevented the marked increases in liver putrescine and spermidine concentrations that normally occur in response to partial hepatectomy. The inhibition of polyamine synthesis by diaminopropane was accompanied by a profound de...

Effect of vitamin C and quercetin treatment on the liver histopathologic profile in congenital lead exposed male rat pups

Introduction: Lead is one of the most important environmental pollutants due to its vast use in various industries. Lead accumulation in different organs, especially the brain, liver and kidneys can cause serious health problems. Lead exposure is more dangerous during fetal period and childhood. Materials and Methods: Timed pregnant female rats divided into 6 groups. Group 1served as control g...

Characterization of biophysical properties of single chloride channel in rat brain mitochondrial inner membrane by channel incorporation into bilayer lipid membrane

Introduction: Recent studies have shown the presence of Cl- channels in heart and liver mitochondrial membranes. In this work, we have characterized the functional profile of a Cl- channel from rat brain mitochondria. Methods: After removing and homogenizing the rat brain, the supernatant was separately centrifuged in MSEdigitonin, H2O and Na2CO3 and mitochondrial inner membrane vesicles wer...

EFFECTS OF CATECHOLAMINES ON DOPAMINE AND SEROTONIN SYNTHESIS IN RAT BRAIN STRIATAL SYNAPTOSOMES: THE ROLE OF PRESYNAPTIC RECEPTORS AND THE SYNAPTOSOMAL REUPTAKE MECHANISM.

The regulation of dopamine and serotonin synthesis in rat brain striatal synaptosomes has been studied using HPLC methods. Noradrenaline was shown to markedly inhibit both the synthesis of dopamine and serotonin. The response of the synaptosomes to the concentrations of noradrenaline appeared to be biphasic, a very effective inhibition occurring at low concentrations (1-5 µm) and a relativ...
